How do I move some records to another user who is not networked?
If you need to move some records to another copy of Time & Chaos or Intellect, and this other copy is not on the same network as you, this can be done using Transportable Records. Essentially, we can find the data you want to move, package it up, send it to another system, and accept it.
To first find the records, click on Report and select Contacts. There, you can simply click Find Now to find all records or narrow down the search by specific criteria. For instance, if you want to send a specific Group to this other user, change the Search Field to Group and fill in the Search For field with what group you would like to find. Click Find Now to find those records.
Then click on Edit and Select All to simply highlight the found data. Once they are all selected, click File and Export and you can export this data as a Transportable Record. This will not delete the data from this database.
Save the Transportable Record in a folder you are familiar with and give it a name you will remember. For instance, call the file "Exported Phone.ixp" and save it to your My Documents folder.
You will then need to get this exported file to the other system. Since the systems are not networked, this will either need to be done via a removable drive or disk or by sending the file over the internet such as emailing the file to someone at the other system. If you have a USB drive or other removable media, this would be recommended.
Once the file exists on the other system where Time & Chaos or Intellect is already installed, you simply need to double click the file to have it open automatically in our Inbasket. This will count up all the records in that package. You can then click Select All and Accept to bring them into the currently open database.
